I was referred to Ben to sort out a small issue with a used Gretsch I'd purchased. As I was travelling the same day he dealt with the issue quickly & efficiently.

After a long time away from playing I took my prized possession (a lefty Fender 57 Reissue Strat) to a local shop for a setup/string change/bit of TLC. The tech there, if I'm being generous, came up with a 'creative' solution to problems they themselves caused with my instrument. Fortunately for me, I then took it to Ben at Askem Guitar Works!
Ben responded quickly to my enquiry and, when I dropped the guitar off at his workshop, spent a fair bit of time discussing what the issues were and potential fixes (which helped put my mind at rest...like I said, I'm very attached to this guitar!). He got the guitar on the bench that evening and gave me details of what he'd found, his proposed solutions, and any costs associated with those. After I gave the go ahead the work was done promptly and now the guitar plays beautifully.
There was excellent communication throughout and a quality service; I won't be taking my guitars anywhere else from now on.

Had Ben set up my Fender Highway One Telecaster and Taylor acoustic. Really friendly and professional service and now both instruments play like a dream. Will be sending more of my collection Ben's way very soon. Highly recommended!
Ben was absolutely amazing, restoring my partners old semi acoustic Tanglewood which has been stored away for over 10 years, back to its former glory. He did this promptly, at a very good price, while keeping me in the loop and helping me keep this as a surprise for my partner. Even went up and beyond to provide a video reel of the work done, and playing a few tunes on the guitar that I could show my partner for that extra touch. Absolutely will be going back to Ben in the future if there’s a need, and cannot recommend him enough!
